PV (Photovoltaic) module prices continue to fall!

“Get them while they are hot!”

Photovoltaic module prices are continuing to fall. Our great solar distributor has secured a truckload of 260 watt modules for less than the 250 watt modules he was stocking just a few months ago. What does this mean for you? It means that we can install a more advanced PV system for you at an even lower investment. Why not have us out this week to prepare a solar quote.

Here is why Longo Electric, LLC is a better choice for your solar installations:

We are an Electrical Contracting firm first, who specializes in energy efficiency and PV. Our competition is made up of people who have switched careers with no background in electrical theory and installations. We have Thousands of hours of classroom training as electricians and after all, PV systems are all about electricity! Secondly, we are NEC code experts and we have even helped in bringing some of the local inspectors up to speed. Thirdly, we are the only local PV installation company who can install a 100% American made and manufactured system. Our competition is installing systems that are assembled in America of components made in Japan. Technically, their systems may not qualify for the %30 Federal Tax Incentive based on the Buy American Act-it is a gray area in my opinion. We aren’t going to put our customers in a gray area, we will, however, out you in a green area! Green = Go (together we will get your job done right) Green = $(our systems pay for them selves) Green = A cleaner environment! (what is better than that)?

We have no way of knowing how far the PV module market prices will continue to drop, but the current prices are the lowest we have ever seen!

2010 Thank you for a great year!!!

We want to take a few minutes and thank all of our great customers, vendors, distributors, friends, families, and everyone who was a part in making 2010 a great year at Longo Electric, LLC. With out the teamwork from our vendors families and friends and without the patronage of our great customers none of our successes would have been possible. We are very proud to put all of the people that surround Longo Electric into one category, “friends!”

Being friends with all of you is what makes our work fun and without fun what would the point be? so thank you again to all of you.

Some milestones that we achieved in 2010:

We added an additional service van to the roads of East Tennessee, We installed 9kW of Solar PV systems, we installed our first Solar Thermal Hot Water system, We added two new field technicians, and we invested heavily in tools, training and inventory to serve you even better in 2011.

We appreciate our relationships with each and every one of you. If you have an idea of how we can serve you better, please let us know; you can always send an email directly to me info@longoelectric.com or feel free to call 865-233-3241.

Thank you,

Kemery Company hosts Knoxville’s most important Solar Seminar

We spent this past Saturday in a lively and informative meeting presented by our Solar Distributor, Kemery Company. John Kemery brought together some of the biggest players in the East Tennessee solar thermal and solar photovoltaic markets. Some of the presenters were comprised of TVA representatives, installers, customers, John Kemery himself, manufacturers, engineers, non-profit solar organizations, and Paul Platillero of Cara-Sol Energy.

The two meetings were for informational purposed and were extremely educational and informative for the audience, which was comprised of future solar customers, electrical and plumbing contractors and members of industries that are stakeholders in the East Tennessee Solar market.

The meetings took place at the U.T. Conference Center in downtown Knoxville. While Longo Electric was not a presenter, we enjoyed being able to provide answers to NEC questions and general installation questions asked by potential future customers.

This was a day of sharing knowledge and not a day of salesmanship, however, and each participant, including myself, left the room with a greater depth of solar energy knowledge.

We would like to thank our solar parts distributor for hosting this event and we look forward to attending again next year. Please stay tuned for future solar event dates, times, and locations!

Another Live One!

We commissioned another PV system in Walland, TN today. This system is comprised of 9 Sharp 224 watt panels in series. Ya’ll should come out and see the system in generation on 10/2/10 as this system is part of the 2010 Knoxville Solar Tour.

Koontz Solar PV system is 50% complete!

We began a 2kW solar Photovoltaic (PV) installation for Mr. Koontz in Strawberry Plains, TN yesterday. We, and Mr. Koontz are extremely excited for his system to go online and to start selling electricity back to KUB. This system is an array of 10 Sharp 220 watt PV modules and a 2000 watt PV Powered grid tied inverter. Of particular interest is that Sharp PV panels are manufactured in nearby Memphis, TN and the PV Powered inverter is manufactured in Oregon. How is that for keeping the cash in this country?

An initial site analysis and feasibility study was performed by Paul Platillero of Cara-Sol and Dan Longo of Longo Electric, LLC in a joint endeavor. The analysis indicates that Mr. Koontz’ solar system will pay for itself in 13 years, but of course the payback may come sooner as electrical rates continue to climb. We salute Mr. Koontz for being on the cutting edge of technology and the green power movement, in talking with him we have realized that the decision to install his solar system has not only been based on economics, but more importantly, reducing his environmental impact.

The Koontz solar system is scheduled to be online and generating energy by early September. The solar PV process is somewhat complex due to utility regulations, governmental procedure, and municipal electrical inspections. As part of the solar PV design and installation process, all parties come to the table (usually at the proposed site) and form a plan, timeline, and schedule. But while the process is complex Longo and Cara-Sol are there throughout to act as the customers’ guide, and representative. Our goal is to leave you completely satisfied, have fun and make new friends along the way.

Please contact Longo Electric, LLC with any questions about solar power and how we may design and install a system for you. We are also pleased to serve our commercial customers solar power needs.
